The Kraken looked to Seattle's maritime past: shipyards, sailors and Pacific trade. For the first time, the anchor logo is the primary crest, and the deep sea blue sweater is decorated in the style of scrimshaw, the fine etched drawings sailors carved into bone and ivory on long voyages.
The shoulder patches carry scrimshaw detailing, the sleeves show Mount Rainier and the mountain landscape, and the hem is lined with rhododendrons, Washington's state flower. The numbers use a custom nautical typeface with scrimshaw embroidery.
Each of the six home games is dedicated to a region: Seattle, the Eastside, North Sound, South Sound and Eastern Washington. Many fans had been asking for the anchor to get a bigger role, and this jersey gives it one.
